Smart City, Village, and Region Summer Course 2021 is an online short-term intensive course organized by Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. This summer course is designed for students who are willing to learn and work hard to improve their understanding, knowledge, and skill in smart city, village, and region. All courses are taught in English.

“AUN-KU Winter Seminar on Human Security Development and Energy Science” is co-organized by the Graduate School of Energy Science (GSES) of Kyoto University and the ASEAN University Network-Kyoto University Student Mobility Program toward Human Security Development. It is designed for undergraduate students to study the concept of Human Security Development (HSD) and Energy Science. The main theme of this seminar is energy development, which is an important issue in Human Security Development. The participating students are expected to deepen their knowledge on human security development and energy science with the prospect of finding solutions to technological, socio-economic, and political issues in Asia specifically. The seminar will offer lectures and class discussions as well as organize field trips and cultural events. Applicants are not limited to engineering, economics, or science – all fields are welcome.

In this Disaster Risk Reduction Education Series (DRR-Edu Series), we bring the theme “Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation: Context, Approach and Praxis” with the title: Continuing Eco-DRR Platform in the Era of Covid-19 Pandemic. This event is one of webinar series conducted collaboratively between Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand; Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia; Keio University, Japan; Miyagi University of Education, Japan; Andalas University, Indonesia; under ProSPER.net consortium.
Dr. Simone Sandholz, peneliti senior dari United Nation University (UNU), Bonn, Germany memberikan pemaparan dengan topik Adaptive Social Protection-Tapping Synergies for Climate and Environment dalam kegiatan kolokium mahasiswa program sarjana dan magister Fakultas Geografi, Universitas Gadjah Mada pada Selasa 25 Februari 2020. Salah satu kolega Dr. Sandholz yaitu Dominic Sett menjelaskan mengenai pentingnya adaptasi sosial dalam meminimalisir dampak lingkungan akibat perubahan iklim di Indonesia. Kedatangan kedua peneliti ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kerjasama antarinstitusi yaitu Fakultas Geografi, United Nation University, dan beberapa stakeholder di Indonesia (Bappenas, Kementerian Sosial, Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan).
TWINCLE Student Exchange Program is a program held by Faculty of Education, Chiba University on February 7-19, 2020. This program is intended to develop knowledge and education to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a world’s goal. It was attended by 31 participants from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Philippine. There were two students from Faculty of Geography UGM who participate in this program, Rahma Aulia Zahra (bachelor program of Environmental Geography) and Ulfah Choirunnisa (master program of Geography).
Student Activity Report: AUN-KU Winter Seminar on Human Security Development and Energy Science 2020
Perkenalkan, saya Aji Wijaya Abadi, mahasiswa program studi Geografi Lingkungan angkatan 2017. Saya terpilih menjadi salah satu perwakilan Indonesia pada kegiatan AUN-KU Winter Seminar on Human Security Development and Energy Science 2020. Kegiatan ini merupakan sebuah seminar yang didesain bagi mahasiswa S1 dengan mengombinasikan antara kuliah, diskusi, presentasi, kunjungan budaya, dan kegiatan lapangan. Program yang dilaksanakan selama dua belas hari di Kyoto, Jepang ini bertujuan untuk memperdalam pemahaman mahasiswa mengenai konsep Human Security Development dalam konteks energi. Selain itu, mahasiswa juga dapat berperan aktif dalam menemukan solusi terkait isu politik, sosial-budaya, dan teknologi, terutama di wilayah Asia.
Kelompok Studi Smart City, Village and Region (SCVR), Departemen Geografi Pembangunan, Fakultas Geografi UGM yang terdiri dari dosen dan mahasiswa menghadiri The 15th International Asian Urbanization Conference di Vietnam tanggal 27-30 November 2019. Kegiatan konferensi tersebut diselenggarakan oleh Asian Urban Research Association (AURA) dan Vietnamese-German University (VGU). Dalam kegiatan ini, Dr Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., MT. sebagai Scientific Board and Session Chair mempresentasikan paper tentang Livable and Smart Cities. Pada sesi yang sama, sembilan mahasiswa yang turut serta juga melakukan presentasi paper.
ICIRD Knowledge Network adalah platform kerjasama akademik di antara lima universitas di Thailand yaitu Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Thammasat University, Chiang Mai University, dan Mae Fah Luang University. ICIRD ke-6 berlangsung di Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai pada 22-23 November 2019. Konferensi yang mengusung tema “A New Global Network :What’s Next of “The Turns” in International Relations and Development” ini mewadahi akademisi di Asia Tenggara dalam mencermati isu-isu global yang tercantum dalam sub-tema, salah satunya yaitu sub tema Risiko, Kerentanan, dan Ketahanan: Bencana, Iklim, Ekologi, dan SDGs.
Sebanyak 337 peserta mengikuti kuliah umum Development Of Advanced Microwave Remote Sensing Technology And Its Applications For Disaster Monitoring pada hari Senin, 11 November 2019 di Auditorim Merapi, Fakultas Geografi UGM. Kuliah ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa geografi UGM dari berbagai jenjang (khususnya mahasiswa S1 Departemen Sains Informasi Geografi dan D3/D4 Sistem Informasi Geografi dan Penginderaan Jauh) dan juga perwakilan dari mitra fakultas yaitu BPDAS Solo serta BMKG. Adapun narasumber pada kegiatan ini adalah Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo dari Chiba University.
