Rio de Janeiro. Four outstanding graduate students from Master Program on Planning and Management of Coastal Area and Watershed (MPPDAS) faculty of Geography UGM visited Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for Joint Student Project (JSP). This Joint Student Project lasted for 1 week (16—24 August 2014). The fortunate students are Wahyu Tyas Pramono, Hendy Fatchutohman, Annisa Hamidah, and Alfiatun Nur accompanied by two lecturers, who are Bachtiar Wahyu Mutaqin, S.Kel., M.Sc. And Dr.rer.nat M. Anggri Setiawan, M.Sc. Together with students from the host university, Institute of Geosciences, Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) Niteroi Brazil, and 5 students from Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi, Mexico, they had a research in the topic of Urban growth in the Rio de Janeiro coastal area. This activity is also included in the consortium of Center for Natural Resources and Development (CNRD) consists of 11 institutions from Asia, Latin America, Europe and Africa.

Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Under the umbrella of excursion program held by Giessen University, Germany, 18 German students visited Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta on 14—15 August 2014. This Giessen University Excursion Program has been visited UGM annually since 2011. Prof. Ulrich Scholz was in charged to accompany the undergraduate students.
Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada have great opportunity to welcome delegation from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The delegation consisted of 11 undergraduate students equipped with ranging events, which mostly accommodated in Faculty of Geography at 16th – 17th July 2014. As this delegation manage to arrange period of visit from 15th – 21st July 2014, with series of field visit agenda. The main agenda of this delegation is to establish communication among institution, by initiating student alternative program to visit Yogyakarta, as a comparison field study. The main interest is actually related with various physical features presented in Yogyakarta, which are quite different with characteristics of Sabah.
Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Faculty of Geography Universitas Gadjah Mada in collaboration with Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Office (BMKG) and Beasiswa Unggulan Kemendikbud had created a public seminar and field work focused on Coastal Cliff. This event was held from 15th until 17th April 2014 and was attended by 11 master students from BMKG and11 fast track master students of Beasiswa unggulan Kemendikbud from Faculty of Geography UGM. This effort was made possible by Prof. Dr. Muh Aris Marfai, M.Sc. Dr. Eko Haryono, M.Sc. and Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko M.Sc. of International Bureau Office (BKLN). Presented by three speakers and moderated by Dr. Djati Mardiatno, M.Sc. of Disaster Research Centre UGM, this public seminar is designed to enrich knowledge and experience in coastal cliff. This event could be a potential media to increase collaboration in research between institutions involved.
Yogyakarta Indonesia. After the signing of the MoU in 2011, collaboration between the Graduate School and PUSPICS Faculty of Geography and Biophysical Remote Sensing Group, School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management, University of Queensland (UQ, Australia) continues. The activity was preceded by the visit of the chairman of PUSPICS also acted as the head of Master Program in Remote Sensing Faculty of Geography UGM Dr. Projo Danoedoro. He was in Brisbane to receive UQ Indonesian Alumni Award in November 2011, and the UQ send Prof. And Dr. Stuart Phinn. Chris Roelfsema to the Faculty of Geography in October 2012 afterwards. The 2012 meeting was scheduled to introduce the field of expertise -of remote sensing- between UGM and UQ, and continued with guest lectures, workshops of new curriculum of Master program in Remote Sensing, and fieldtrip for students (undergraduate and graduate) in mangrove research topic, seagrass, and coral reef in Karimunjawa.
Pada tanggal 26 Juni 2013 telah dilaksanakan penandatanganan LOA (Letter of Agreement) antara Fakultas Geografi Universitas Gadjah Mada dengan Fakultas Arsitektur King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). Dalam hal ini dari pihak KMITL penandatanganan LOA dilaksanakan oleh Dekan Fakultas Arsitektur KMITL yaitu Assoc. Prof. Boonsanong Ratanasoontragul dan Asst. Prof. Ochakorn Phaksuwan sebagai partnership coordinator, sementara dari pihak Fakultas Geografi UGM penandatanganan dilakukan oleh Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T selaku partnership coordinator , sedangkan penandatanganan oleh Dekan Fakultas Geografi dilaksanakan di Yogyakarta.
Our first day of the TWINCLE program in Chiba University was started quite late since we have landed in Japan in the middle of the night on the previous day. After spending some times of sightseeing on the neighborhood in the Chiba international dormitory, we have been guided to go to Chiba University for the first time of our life by Oshima Sensei, one of the supervisors for our program.
Salah satu bentuk kerjasama Internasional antara Fakultas Geografi UGM dengan Chiba University, Jepang terwujud dalam TWINCLE (Twin College Envoys) Program. Program ini bergerak dalam bidang pertukaran pelajar dan mahasiswa dari kedua negara, dengan sasaran kegiatan di Lingkungan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) dan Universitas. Pelaksanaan program ini dilaksanakan pula di 5 (lima) kota Besar Indonesia diantaranya Jakarta, Bandung, Bogor, Yogyakarta, dan Denpasar.
Yogyakarta- Magister Perencanaan Pengelolaan Pesisir dan Daerah Aliran Sungai (MPPDAS) Fakultas Geografi Universitas Gadjah Mada bekerjasama dengan CNRD (Center of Naural Resources and Development) mengadakan riset bersama di daerah Dieng Wonosobo dalam program Joint Student Programe (JSP) dan One Day seminar yang bertemakan Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR). Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa program Beasiswa Unggulan (BU) Kemdikbud, MPPDAS Fakultas Geografi UGM, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Jerman dan Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
Pengelolaan pesisir terpadu merupakan suatu pendekatan dalam memanfaatkan sumberdaya pesisir secara optimal dengan meminimalisir kerusakan dan risiko yang mungkin terjadi akibat dari kegiatan pemanfaatan ataupun proses alami seperti bencana. Pengelolaan yang berkelanjutan akan menjamin kemanfaatan yang dapat dinikmati oleh generasi berikutnya dengan kualitas dan kuantitas yang sama atau bahkan lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, pengelolaan pesisir terpadu menjadi suatu keharusan untuk dapat diterapkan di seluruh dunia.
