Three students of the Faculty of Geography UGM participated in the Twin College Envoys (TWINCLE) Program which was held for 12 days from February 8th – 20th at the Faculty of Education, Chiba University, Japan. This program is a short course held by Chiba University in collaboration with several universities in Southeast Asia, include Universitas Gadjah Mada through the Faculty of Geography UGM. Three students participated were Kirana Putri Prastika (Geography and Environmental Sciences 2015), Intan Lestari (Cartography and Remote Sensing 2015), and Haddad Al Rasyid Sukawan (Regional Development 2016).
Cooperation
Sebagai wujud peningkatan internasionalisasi Fakultas Geografi, Unit Kerjasama Luar Negeri kembali memfasilitasi terselenggaranya kuliah umum dengan topik kondisi ketidaksetaraan pembangunan di Indonesia pada tanggal 20 Agustus 2018. Terdapat dua narasumber yang mengisi kuliah umum ini yaitu Prof. Matthew Tonts dan Prof. Petra Tschakert dari The University of Western Australia (UWA). Kuliah umum ini diselenggarakan dalam kaitannya dengan matakuliah Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dan Geografi Regional Indonesia. Sebanyak 100 orang mahasiswa Fakultas Geografi UGM dari Departemen Geografi Pembangunan (DGP), Departemen Geografi Lingkungan (GEL) dan Departemen Sains Informasi Geografis (SaIG) turut hadir dalam kuliah umum ini.
Universitas Negeri Manado melaksanakan kegiatan Public lecture “From science to hazard management of urban & coastal area”. Prof Tsung-Yi Lin & Prof Shew-Jiuan Su from National Taiwan Normal University dengan Moderator Dr.Dyah Hizbaron, MT.M.Sc dari wakil dekan ilmu geografi UGM. Adapun kegiatan ini dilaksanakan aula Rektorat Unima di Tondano pada Senin (6/Agustus/2018).
ForUm Urban Experts Conference on “National Urban Development Strategies in Southeast Asia” telah diselenggarakan pada tanggal 17-26 Juni 2018 di Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia 2018. Kegiatan ini didukung oleh DAAD dan diorganisasikan oleh University of Cologne berkolaborasi dengan University Malaysia, Sarawak, Kota Samarahan. Dalam kegiatan ini Staf Dosen Fakultas Geografi Universitas Gadjah Mada yaitu Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T. dan Dr. Djaka Marwasta, S.Si., M.Si. ikut berperan serta dalam kegiatan tersebut, masing-masing mempresentasikan tentang “Implementing New Urban Agenda in Indonesia: Challenges and Urban Development Strategies” dan “Implementing of Sustainable Cities and Communities in Indonesia: Reflection of’100-0-100 Program’ Achievement”
Fakultas Geografi UGM menerima kunjungan dari RedT Energy dan PT. Surya Perkasa pada tanggal 20 November 2017. Kunjungan ini membahas tentang rencana pemberian bantuan peralatan panel surya yang sedianya akan dipasang di Gedung E serta membicarakan rencana kerja sama pengembangan daerah tertinggal, pulau-pulau kecil dan kawasan timur Indonesia terkait program desa mandiri energy. Pihak RedT diwakili oleh Bengt Stahlschmidt selaku Business Developer, didampingi oleh Olpi George Efruan, Sodiq Suhardianto, dan Djunaidi dari PT. Surya Perkasa. Turut serta dalam kegiatan ini tim dari Fakultas Geografi UGM yaitu Prof. Dr. Suratman, M.Sc. (Ketua Pusat Kajian Klinik Lingkungan dan Mitigasi Bencana), Dr. Slamet Suprayogi, M.S. (Dosen Dep. Geografi Lingkungan), Dr. Pramaditya Wicaksono, M.Sc. (Sekretaris Unit Kerja Sama Dalam Negeri), dan Utia Suarma, S.Si., M.Si. (Sekretaris Unit Kerja Sama Luar Negeri).
The Provincial Government of North Kalimantan through the Provincial Bappeda proposed Tailor Made Training (TMT) activity in cooperation with the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada and the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, University of Twente, the Netherlands. This TMT entitled GIS Applications for Spatial Planning and Regional Development in the New Province of North Kalimantan. The training, which was held on November 6 to 17, 2017, received support from StuNed NUFFIC NESO (Netherlands Education Support Offices) Indonesia.
Pada tanggal 7 November 2017, sebanyak empat orang Profesor dari National Central University (NCU) Taiwan diantaranya Prof. Dr. Shou-Hao Chiang dan Prof. Dr. Hwa Chien berkunjung ke Fakultas Geografi UGM. Pertemuan dipimpin langsung oleh Dekan Fakultas Geografi (Prof. Dr. Muh Aris Marfai, M.Sc.). Turut hadir pula kolega Balai Riset dan Observasi Laut (BROL), Wakil Dekan Bidang Penelitian, Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, Kerjasama dan Alumni (Dr. Dyah Rahmawati Hizbaron, M.T., M.Sc.) dan Ketua Unit Kerja Sama Luar Negeri (Dr. Estuning Tyas Wulan Mei, M.Sc.) dan perwakilan Ketua maupun Sekretaris masing-masing departemen dan laboratorium di lingkungan FGE. Adapun pertemuan ini diadalan antara lain untuk menjajaki kemungkinan kerjasama di masa mendatang antara NCU, FGE UGM, dan BROL.
Dr. Christopher Gomez, a researcher-lecturer from Kobe University, visited the Faculty of Geography under the lecturer exchange program funded by World Class University UGM from 15th to 30th of October 2017.
Having a long history of collaboration, Professor Makoto Takahashi, a professor in Geography / Environmental Policy, from the Department of Social and Human Environment, Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University for the umpteenth time visited the Faculty of Geography on October 2017 and hosted by the Vice Dean of Research, Community Service and Alumni Cooperation (Dr. Dyah Rahmawati Hizbaron) and the Head of Center for Disaster Study (Dr. Djati Mardiatno). His visit was also part of collaborative research activity which is now being conducted between Nagoya University and Universitas Gadjah Mada entitled International Comparative Study on Mega-earthquake Disasters. Along with his stay, Professor Takahashi also supervised a PhD candidate from Nagoya University, Mr. Dodi WIdiyanto, M.Reg.Dev., one of the Faculty of Geography’s lecturers who is pursuing his doctoral program in Nagoya University.
From September 16th until October 7th, 2017, the Department of Environmental Geography Universitas Gadjah Mada, more specifically, the Laboratory of Environmental Geomorphology and Disaster Mitigation hosted an expert from Senior Experten Service (SES) Program, Prof. Dr. Thomas G. Schlueter. This program, coordinated by Foundation of German Industry for International Cooperation, gives an opportunity to senior experts from any background study to deliver their knowledge to a far-reaching public.
