Dalam rangka program World Class Research University (WCRU) Fakultas Geografi UGM mengadakan International workshop on Curriculum Development. Dalam kegiatan ini akan dikembangkan kerjasama pendidikan antara University of Applied Science Cologne Jerman, Tribuvan University Nepal, Ain Shams University Egypt, Vietnam Academy for Water Resources Vietnam dan Fakultas Geografi UGM.

Pada tanggal 11 Oktober 2010, Fakultas Geografi menerima kedatangan kunjungan Rektor Cologne University of Applied Science (CUAS) Jerman, Prof. Dr. Joachim Metzner, Direktur International Affairs CUAS Ms. Elisabeth Holluscha dan Prof. Dr. Michael Sturm dari Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering of CUAS. Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University strives to develop strategic partnerships with various universities abroad in support of Gadjah Mada University to Wolrld Class Reasearch. On Tuesday 20 July 2010, Guest Lecture held at the Geography Faculty of UGM with speaker Prof.Dr. Martin Coy, Dean of Faculty of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and Prof. Dr. Franck Lavigne from the Universite ‘Paris, 1 Pantheon Sorbonne. Guest Lecture was attended by more than 40 participants consisting of lecturers, staff, and S2 and S3 students of Geography Faculty of UGM. Prof. Dr. Martin Coy theme is :
A total of 11 students from the Faculty of Literature and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya, followed Outbound Program at the Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University from August 1 to June 28, 2010. University of Malaya students accompanied by the Head of the Department of Geography, University of Malaya, Prof. Dr. Osman Salleh Khairulmaini. Outbound programs conducted in the form of Summer Course by the Faculty of Geography, University of Malaya GMU where students can learn about the cultures and educational systems in the Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University. Summer Course Universiti Malaya is one form of cooperation in educational exchanges of students who have been there on Academic Cooperation between UGM and Universiti Malaya who has been there since 2007.
As part of the World Class Research University programs, Geography Faculty of Gadjah Mada University has conducted a strategic cooperation with the University of Cologne, Germany. One of the forms of the cooperation is the urbanization and megacities study. Here, some students from the University of Cologne and some students of the master degree program “Planning and Management of Coastal Area and Watershed (MPPDAS)” of Geography Faculty, Gadjah Mada University carried out a joint fieldwork in Jakarta on 13-24 March 2010.
