Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University strives to develop strategic partnerships with various universities abroad in support of Gadjah Mada University to Wolrld Class Reasearch. On Tuesday 20 July 2010, Guest Lecture held at the Geography Faculty of UGM with speaker Prof.Dr. Martin Coy, Dean of Faculty of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and Prof. Dr. Franck Lavigne from the Universite ‘Paris, 1 Pantheon Sorbonne. Guest Lecture was attended by more than 40 participants consisting of lecturers, staff, and S2 and S3 students of Geography Faculty of UGM. Prof. Dr. Martin Coy theme is : Man-Environment Relations, Socio Ecological Problems in Perspective of Sustainability with Example from Brazil. Meanwhile, and Prof. Dr. Franck Lavigne picked up the theme Geomorphological Evolution of the Borobudur Basin. Also played for the guest lecture in a short documentary film about the presence of geological studies about Dananu Purba Borobudur made by one of S3 students Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University, Helmy Murwanto.
Prof.Dr. Coy Martin picked up the theme of the relationship between humans and the environment in its role in social and ecological with examples of cases in Brazil. , Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the cooperation of Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University explained that in addition to giving Guest Lecture, Prof. Dr. Martin Coy at the Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University in order to provide academic advising and monitoring the development of the Faculty of Geography Gadjah Mada University offers students who are studying at the University of Innsbruck S3 Austria. During his visit he also attract students of the Faculty of Geography of the candidate to be sent for a scholarship to study in the University of Innsbruck, Austria. GMU Cooperation, University Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne and the University of Innsbruck has been established for over 10 years has produced many alumni of the Faculty of Geography, UGM S2 and S3 resume his studies at both the University.
It is expected that with this partnership growing geography faculty in Academic Cooperation and student exchange in the future.
