TWINCLE Student Exchange Program is a program held by Faculty of Education, Chiba University on February 7-19, 2020. This program is intended to develop knowledge and education to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a world’s goal. It was attended by 31 participants from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Philippine. There were two students from Faculty of Geography UGM who participate in this program, Rahma Aulia Zahra (bachelor program of Environmental Geography) and Ulfah Choirunnisa (master program of Geography).
TWINCLE program’s activities are focused in education to introduce Japan’s education system as well as conducting comparative studies with other countries. The activities are so varied yet insightful such as experimental class, visiting National Museum of Japan, visiting schools in Japan, and international event: The International Collaboration of Research and Education for The Achievement of SDGs. Experimental class had been held for five times in chemistry, wooden physics, biomolecule, electronic, and biology subjects. School’s visiting was held as a comparative study to discuss about the education atmosphere with another countries. By this chance, participants could have an interaction with Japanese student to exchange their knowledge about education, culture, or just make a friend.
The International Collaboration of Research and Education for The Achievement of SDGs was held on February, 15-16 2020. The first day of this event was delivering presentation from the lecturers and researchers from different universities in Asia. Vice Dean for Research, Community Service and Cooperation Faculty of Geography Universitas Gadjah Mada, Dr. Dyah Rahmawati Hizbaron, S.Si., M.T., M.Sc. presented about education system and method in Faculty of Geography, notably in disaster field. She also talked about the partnership between Faculty of Geography and National Disaster Management Authority of Indonesia (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana/BNPB). On the second day, the TWINCLE exchange students and Japanese high school students presented their research poster. The presented research was varied start from science and technology, social, until the Asian’s culture. Even though the research themes were varied, the goal was still to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
