Annual Meeting of CNRD Network

The annual meeting of Center for Natural Resource and Development, held in Da Nang, Vietnam, at 31st October – 6 November 2016. Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada has been involved within the activities since 2010, whereas the consortia already enter 2nd phase since 2015. The CNRD establishes several mutual activities among universities across continents, to promote academic exchange and cooperation in the area of environment, natural resource management, as well as disaster risk reduction. The main target of the network is actually seeking any valuable contribution towards SDGs and any post 2015 Global Agenda. The meeting included 15 countries representatives from universities, as well as international institution, i.e. Worldbank, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and UNEP. This year, joined the meeting from UGM were Prof. Dr. Junun Sartohadi, M.Sc, Dr. Dyah Rahmawati Hizbaron, M.T, M.Sc also Citra Amalia Waskita Sari, S.Pd.

During 2015-2016, there were at least two CNRD activities carried out in UGM. First, Science Policy Society Dialogue on Ecosystem Based Disaster Risk Reduction, carried out on 14th – 28th September 2016 involving 5 international speakers and 16 ASEAN students, also 20 students from UGM, and nearly 17 national/local partners from Indonesia. Second was Research Development Infrastructure for Bompon Watershed, Central Java. The idea of the activity was actually promote baseline information for watershed management unit, which comprised from environmental aspect description using spatial and non-spatial information.

In this occasion, FGE UGM prepared 2 posters from the previous activities and 3 other posters to represent future activities, which relates to research workshop, research development infrastructure and science-policy society dialogue.
